Tang Featured in New Book on Work of Architect Antoine Predock
The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery figures prominently in a new book on the work of architect Antoine Predock, Antoine Predock: Architect (Vol. 4) by Brad Collins (Rizzoli Publications, 2006).
According to the publisher, the large-format book features Predock's latest work, which in addition to the Tang includes Highland Ponds in Aspen, Colo.; the Austin, Texas, city hall; the Tacoma Art Museum; and Shadow House in Santa Fe, N.M.
Based in Albuquerque, N.M., Predock has been called the premier architect practicing in the Southwest, and is known for "a philosophical ethos that does not privilege architecture over environment, but fosters a relationship in which a building is analogous to the landscape in which it is set." Predock is known for his use of natural materials as well as advanced construction methods. He has taught at Harvard University, Southern California Institute of Architecture, UCLA, and universities in Italy and Argentina.
