A story about a priest, an artist, and a young girl in Pasadena, Texas. Part artist’s talk, part performance, part cultural history, part sound installation.
Artist Suzanne Bocanegra talks about her work, channeled through Paul Lazar, an actor long associated with New York’s legendary Wooster Group. Together (sort of) they tell a tale incorporating Elvis, abstract expressionism, the Pope, astronauts, the Singing Nun and obviously, a witch.
The co-founder of Big Dance Theater, Paul Lazar has been an Associate Member of New York’s Wooster Group, and starred in films such as Silence of the Lambs, Beloved, Lorenzo’s Oil, and Philadelphia, among others.
Suzanne Bocanegra is a New York-based artist whose performance and installation works, including the new dance and sound piece Little Dot, are currently on view at the Tang in Suzanne Bocanegra: I Write the Songs.
