Waste Land follows artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from Brooklyn to his native Brazil to photograph and collaborate with the “catadores” – self-designated pickers of recyclable materials – at the world’s largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho. Together they create photographic portraits made from garbage, revealing both the dignity and despair of their lives.
