Join seniors Emily Gunter and Hannah Haines for Translation and Transformation: Mythology in Choreography, an event that offers a choreographic reinterpretation of the myth of Pygmalion from Ovid’s Metamorphoses. The myth of Pygmalion tells the story of a man’s obsession with his sculpture of the perfect woman; Gunter and Haines’ choreography uncovers the statue’s story in an exploration of representation of the female form.

The thirty-five-minute performance will feature eighteen female dancers and be accompanied by artworks from the Tang collection. Through the pairing of choreography with these artworks, this event will investigate contemporary interpretations of the female form inspired by classical mythos.

Translation and Transformation: Mythology in Choreography will take place in the Payne Room on Saturday, April 13 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 pm.
