The Streb Extreme Action Company, founded by Elizabeth Streb, is known for physically demanding performances that combine virtuosity, technical skill, and popular appeal. Witness this company defy gravity in feats of extreme action at the Tang Museum. The evening’s program will feature new and recent works including Molinette, Air, Tilt, Revolution, and Remain.

This performance is co-presented by the Office of Special Programs and held in conjunction with the Tang’s exhibition Streb Action.

Elizabeth Streb is the Skidmore Summer Dance Choreographer-in-Residence, a program organized by the Skidmore College Office of Special Programs. The event is sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts, the Office of Special Programs and the Tang Teaching Museum.

This event is free and open to the public.

About Streb Extreme Action Company

The members of Elizabeth Streb’s company, Streb Extreme Action, combine virtuosity and technical skill with openhearted popular appeal. Founded in New York City in 1985 by choreographer Elizabeth Streb, the company has traveled, artistically as well as geographically, from the heights of the experimental dance world to the cutting-edge of popular entertainment.

For more than three decades, Streb has performed in theaters large and small and served as artists-in-residence at the world’s top art museums. At the same time, Streb has taken its work into the streets and sports stadiums: at Grand Central Station; during halftime at a Seattle Sonics basketball game; on the mall outside the Smithsonian Institution and descending the façade of Bergdorf Goodman. The company’s extensive touring calendar has included presentations at the Lincoln Center Festival, the Walker Art Center, Los Angeles MOCA, the Barbican Center, the Theatre de la Ville, and in Chile, Singapore and Taiwan. Streb Extreme Action was most recently seen in Greece at the Summer Nostos Festival at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, CityLab 2018 Paris, and at the opening of Bloomberg’s new corporate headquarters in London.
