Tang at Home Studio: Self-Portrait Remix

Deborah Roberts, Glass Castles, 2017, mixed media on paper, purchased with generous funding from Ann Schapps Schaffer ’62 and Melvyn S. Schaffer, 2017.52

Join us on Friday, October 9, at 5:00 PM for Tang at Home Studio: Self-Portrait Remix! This week, we explore Glass Castles, a mixed-media work by artist Deborah Roberts in the exhibition Never Done: 100 Years of Women in Politics and Beyond. Roberts explores identity in this work, composing this portrait of a young Black girl with different elements that hold different meanings. Take some time to think about this work, gather your collage art materials, and be ready to share and create your own self-portrait.

Hosted by Sunny Ra, The Laurie M. Tisch Educator for K-12 and Community Programs, and her team of Skidmore student interns, these sessions are geared toward children ages 5 to 12 accompanied by a parent or guardian. This hour-long live session will focus on exploring and sharing our thoughts about the artwork, learning more about the artist and then making our own inspired work!

Before Friday’s live event, download a high-res version of Glass Castles.

Tang at Home Studios are free, however, registration is required and space is limited. Register for this event
