Family Saturday: Make Your Own Shopping Bags

Installation view of Jonathan Seliger’s Politeness Counts, 2004, Tang Teaching Museum
We will head outside the museum to talk about Jonathan Seliger’s giant shopping bag sculpture, Politeness Counts, then come back in to decorate our own bags in the style of Nicholas Krushenick’s colorful paintings. (Please bring an umbrella and/or raincoat if it rains that day.)

The background pattern is composed from the Tang dingbat, an abstracted diagram of the building. The four steps of the dingbat, like the four letters of Tang, symbolize thought, learning, and aspiration.
