Join us on Friday, September 16, at 7 pm, for the annual fall Tang/SEC concert. Experimental indie-pop group Blood Cultures, whose genre-bending sound is often characterized as psych pop, electro-pop, and bedroom pop, will perform a free show outside the Tang on the lawn on the northwest side of the museum. Charles on TV and Drobakid will open. The show is presented by Skidmore College Student Entertainment Council (SEC) in collaboration with the Tang.

About the Performers

Blood Cultures is an anonymous experimental indie-pop project based out of Brooklyn, NY. Blood Cultures’ genre-bending sound is often characterized as psych pop, electro-pop, and bedroom pop. They released their first album Happy Birthday in 2017, second album Oh Uncertainty! A Universe Despairs in September 2019, and their third most recent record, LUNO, on May 28, 2021.

Charles On TV (Charles Meyer) is a singer, songwriter, and producer from New York City. His eclectic sound draws inspiration from several musical eras and sonic aesthetics, blending together dreamy synths with jazz grooves, a dash of neo-soul, and R&B vocal intonation. Meanwhile his ambient harmonies nod at ’60s and ’70s vocalists like Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney. Lyrically, Charles On TV confronts contemporary realities with satirical self-awareness. “Charles explores the cycles of hypocrisy within himself and those around him as well as the structures that make the current world exist as it does” (Earmilk).

Drobakid formed at Skidmore in 2017 and is now based in New York City, where they have continued to play shows since graduating in 2020. Drobakid’s music blends elements of folky singer-songwriter stylings with math rock and slowcore genres. Their favorite bands and biggest influences include groups like Palm, Horse Jumper of Love, Mid-Air Thief, and Duster.
