Join us Thursday, August 1, at 6 pm, for a performance by Drank the Gold, a duo performing Irish and American old-time tunes featuring soaring vocal harmonies, fiddle, and guitar/banjo.
2023 Folk/Traditional Artist of the Year at the NY Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Awards, Drank the Gold play and sing North Atlantic dance tunes and folk songs. Performing together since 2015, Oona Grady and James Gascoyne have both been steeped in music from an early age. Their album, Sipped The Silver, simultaneously features Grady’s deep Irish fiddle roots, Gascoyne’s compositional talents, and their shared passion for digging deep into traditional music and finding something new to say.
For its 23rd season, the Upbeat on the Roof summer series highlights regional musical talent every Thursday, July 11 through August 15, at 6 pm.
Performances take place on the lawn outside the Tang and are free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, and their own food and drink to make it a night!
Tang Art Educators offer craft kits for kids at every concert, starting at 5:30! A different craft will be available each week. This week’s craft is Alien Finger Puppets! Participants are invited to create an outer space visitor with pipe cleaners and pom poms. All projects are suitable for children aged 5 and up, with adult supervision recommended. Materials will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
