Upbeat on the Roof with Dust Bowl Faeries

A group of five people in steampunk style clothing, including a woman wearing a long black dress and headdress made of sticks, three men wearing fedora hats, and a woman wearing a loose white shirt and feathered hat, stand against a weathered wall.

Join us Thursday, July 25, at 6 pm, for a performance by Dust Bowl Faeries, who return to the Tang with their accordion-driven dark cabaret music after their debut Upbeat on the Roof performance in 2016.

Celebrating their tenth year in 2024, Dust Bowl Faeries perform a faerie-tale medley of dark cabaret and gothic polka music, infused with a dose of witchcraft and a dusting of woodland magic. The accordion-driven freak-folk ensemble hails from the New York Hudson Valley and draws inspiration from circus music, murder ballads, and Eastern European folk songs. Singing saw, piano accordion, lap steel, electric bass, percussion, and acoustic guitar combine to create the Dust Bowl Faeries’ otherworldly sound.

For its 23rd season, the Upbeat on the Roof summer series highlights regional musical talent every Thursday, July 11 through August 15, at 6 pm.

Performances take place on the lawn outside the Tang and are free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, and their own food and drink to make it a night!

Crafts on the Grass

Tang Art Educators offer craft kits for kids at every concert, starting at 5:30! A different craft will be available each week. This week’s craft is Gator Chatter! Participants are invited to create an alligator clapper with cardboard and buttons. All projects are suitable for children aged 5 and up, with adult supervision recommended. Materials will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
