Lunch will be provided; please RSVP by sending an email to ocammisa@skidmore.edu.
His work has been widely published, with projects across a broad range of typologies, including public spaces, private residences, retail, and hospitality. Prior to founding his own practice, Melitonov worked with Pritzker Prize Laureate Renzo Piano on the design of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s new location in New York.
Beyond practice, Melitonov is a passionate educator. He directs the Fundamental Design-Build Initiative, a nonprofit that merges hands-on construction with architectural pedagogy, enabling students to engage directly with communities through built projects. He has taught and lectured at institutions such as Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) and Parsons School of Design in New York City. The past five years of his nonprofit’s work were recently exhibited at Art Omi in the Hudson Valley in a show titled Shared Space—Collective Practices.
Melitonov’s contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades. He is a recipient of the MacDowell Fellowship in Architecture, the AIA New York’s New Practices Award, and the Architectural League Prize. He holds an M.Arch from Yale School of Architecture and a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Skidmore College.
