Join us Tuesday, March 24, at 6 pm, for a Whole Grain: Experiments in Film & Video screening of BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions (United States, 2025, 113 min. digital), artist Kahlil Joseph’s recent work the New York Times called a, “dazzling essay movie.” The feature film mirrors the sonic textures of a record album, weaving fiction and history in an immersive journey where the fictionalized figures of W. E. B Du Bois and Marcus Garvey join artists, musicians, Joseph’s family, and even Twitter chats, in a vision for black consciousness.
This screening, which is co-presented by the English Department, Black Studies Program, Intergroup Relations Program, and the Tang, will be introduced by Jamie Parra, Assistant Professor of English. It is free and open to the public.
