Gypsy jazz ensemble Hot Club of Saratoga carries on the spirit and style of music created in the 1930s by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. The Hot Club of Saratoga’s full quintet features solo and rhythm guitars, string bass, violin, and clarinet/sax. Together the group explores the genre and covers a range of its sounds from sweet, soulful balladry and hard driving swing to fiery, upbeat tempos.

Celebrating its 16th season, the UpBeat on the Roof summer series highlights regional musical talent in an array of styles.

UpBeat on the Roof takes place every Friday, July 1 through August 26 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm and is free and open to the public. The rooftop is accessible via the museum elevator or outdoor staircases. In the case of inclement weather the series is held inside the museum.

The background pattern is composed from the Tang dingbat, an abstracted diagram of the building. The four steps of the dingbat, like the four letters of Tang, symbolize thought, learning, and aspiration.
