Dear America,

U.S. Representative Paul Tonko contributes to the Dear America, project on July 9, 2016

Take part in the Dear America, project from Noon–5 pm today, January 20.

Five picnic tables in the Museum atrium are painted red, white, and blue, and you’re invited to write your thoughts about politics, democracy, and citizenship directly on them, using the markers provided and prompted by the words “Dear America” followed by a comma, suggesting the beginning of a letter or note. The tables have been on display since July 2, 2016, as part of the exhibition A More Perfect Union featuring Mel Zielger’s Flag Exchange. Though that exhibition has closed, the picnic have remained until today, January 20.

Dear America, is a collaborative project created by students in Mel Ziegler’s Installation/Social Intervention class at Vanderbilt University: Conor Bloomer; Xiyu Deng; Ashlin Dolan; John Jones; Larissa May; Katherine Stark; Qinyuan Sun; Jingzhi Wang; Tongqi Wang; John Wells; and Diana Zhu.

This event is free and open to the public.
