Family Saturday: Music Along the Borders

Guillermo Galindo, Erjumex (Metal string) and Erjumex (Nylon string), 2012, found Jumex juice cans, wire, wood, and contact mic amplification, 36 × 5 × 5 inches, courtesy of the artist and Pace/Macgill Gallery

Join us on March 10 for Family Saturday: Music Along the Borders. We will spend time in Along the Border and talk about artist Guillermo Galindo’s musical instrument series crafted from objects found along the Mexico-United States border. Galindo’s instruments are constructed from cans, shoes, bicycle wheels and much more. We will make our own instruments from a variety of objects then play music together!

Family Saturdays foster multigenerational creative cooperation through looking at artwork, discussing it, and engaging in a hands-on art activity. Most programs run from 2:00 – 3:30 pm and include a tour of a specific exhibition.

All programs are free and open to the public, and suitable for children ages 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions. Materials are provided. Reservations are required—for additional information and reservations, call the Tang’s Visitor Service Desk at 518-580-8080.
