Object Label

Beginning in 1993, Eve Fowler photographed male prostitutes—whom she met on the street and often spent time getting to know—in the style of school portraits. Of the series, she has said, “I don’t think you can become more familiar with someone through a photograph…a photograph of a person generally has more to do with the person who’s taking it than the person who’s in it.” What can and can’t we learn through this image?
