Andy Warhol:
I’ll Be Your Mirror

Featuring works recently acquired by the Tang Teaching Museum, this group of polaroid portraits and prints by legendary American pop artist Andy Warhol (1928–1987) includes a selection of photographs Warhol took during the 1970s and 1980s as well as portrait silkscreens of artist Joseph Beuys and actor Jane Fonda from the early 1980s. Taken together, the exhibition demonstrates an important aspect of Warhol’s process, as the Polaroids served as the basis for many of his paintings and silkscreens.
The exhibition celebrates two generous gifts from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in 2008 and 2013, which include over 100 Polaroid photographs, approximately 50 original gelatin silver prints, and several prints.
