In celebration of the Tang’s 25th anniversary, Building Blocks looks back at the architectural history and inaugural programming of the museum. An idea that emerged out of Skidmore College’s interdisciplinary liberal arts mission, the museum opened to the public on October 27, 2000.
A display of archival materials—including original sketches by architect Antoine Predock (1936–2024), a scale model of the museum, construction photographs, ephemera, and more—presents behind-the-scenes insight into the planning, building, opening, and initial programs and exhibitions at the museum.
