Tang Reopening

Welcome back!

The Tang is excited to welcome you back into the galleries. The Tang reopened on Saturday, July 10, with new exhibitions and new gallery hours.

Open hours are:

  • Thursdays 12:00 to 5:00 PM

  • Fridays 12:00 to 5:00 PM

  • Saturdays 12:00 to 5:00 PM

  • Sundays 12:00 to 5:00 PM

Reservations are not required.

Following current CDC guidelines:

  • Fully vaccinated visitors are welcome to wear masks, though they are not required

  • If you are not fully vaccinated, we thank you for wearing a mask

Public Events

The Museum's reopening also means the return of in-person programs. Family Saturdays resume July 17. The twentieth season of the Upbeat on the Roof concert series returns Thursday, July 29.

The Tang's Zoom-based family art-making activities will also return. Tang at Home Studio sessions start Sunday, July 18.

Research

Skidmore students and faculty conducting research or preparing for classes can make appointments during regular business hours. Those interested in exhibitions may contact Rachel Seligman, Assistant Director for Curatorial Affairs, at rseligma@skidmore.edu. Those interested in collections may contact Kara Jefts, Collections Registrar, at kjefts@skidmore.edu. Please make your appointment at least 24 hours in advance of your visit.

What You Should Know

  • The Tang Teaching Museum is open by appointment during regular business hours through July 9. Call 518-580-8080 to make an appointment.

  • The Museum reopens to the public on Saturday, July 10.

  • Summer hours will be Thursday – Sunday, Noon – 5:00 PM

  • Visitors to the Museum are asked to follow CDC guidelines, which require visitors who are not fully vaccinated to wear masks. Vaccinated visitors are not required, but are welcome to do so.

  • Faculty and students conducting research and bringing classes can also make appointments. Those interested in exhibitions, please contact Rachel Seligman, Assistant Director for Curatorial Affairs, at rseligma@skidmore.edu. Those interested in collections, please contact Kara Jefts, Collections Registrar, at kjefts@skidmore.edu.

FAQs

Is the Museum open to anyone?
Yes. The Museum is open by appointment during regular business hours through July 9 as we prepare new shows. We open to the public on Saturday, July 10.


As a Skidmore College faculty member, can I teach with Tang exhibitions and collections, remotely, in-person, or in a hybrid?
Yes! The Museum staff is available to work with Skidmore professors to schedule in-person visits, assist with research, and help with remote teaching. To make an appointment, contact:

Will there be any public events?
