Upbeat on the Roof with Fuego Sonoro

Fuego Sonoro

Join us Thursday, August 3, at 6 pm, for a performance of 1950’s Latin jazz with Fuego Sonoro on the lawn outside the Tang.

New to the area’s live music scene, Fuego Sonoro performs 1950s-era Latin music— bossa novas, Brazilian choros, Caribbean rhumbas and calypsos. The band spices up familiar melodies and rhythms with improvisation to create a fresh, yet still classic sound.

Note: This is a change from the previously announced sitar concert with Veena Chandra.

For its 22nd season, the Upbeat on the Roof summer series highlights regional musical talent every Thursday, July 6 through August 17, at 6 pm.

Performances take place on the lawn outside the Tang and are free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, and their own food and drink to make it a night!

Crafts on the Grass

Tang Art Educators offer craft kits for kids at every concert, starting at 5:30! A different craft will be available each week. This week’s craft is Snip Snap Snakes: Participants are invited to create colorful custom snakes form popsicle sticks! All projects are suitable for children aged 5 and up, with adult supervision recommended. Materials will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
